Description
The area for the proposed barn extension is c100m east of the farmhouse which is a listed post medieval building. Prior to any planning application the area of the proposed extension has been stripped of between 250mm to 500mm top and subsoil and hardcore has been deposited across the footprint area. Howerver a strip 3m wide has been left bare on the eastern edge so this area and the eastern and northern sections could be examined. In these areas there was 0.25m of topsoil over 2.5m of mid brown clay subsoil above the natural Till deposit which is light brown clay with flints. The only finds on the exposed surface and sections were small fragments of brick and tile of recent date and no features were revealed. The northern and eastern sifes also did not reveal any archaeological features or finds (S1).
