Description

Detailed fluxgate gradiometer (Bartington Dual Grad 601-2) survey was conducted over 2 ha in two separate agricultural fields as part of a private funded research project at Hillside Farm. Area 1 is in the northern field bordered by Bury Road and Church Road. Area 2 is south of St Mary's Church. Sampling interval was set at 0.25m along 1m traverse intervals, providing 4 readings a meter and the survey was undertaken on 20x20m grids. The fluxgate gradiometer performed well over the two areas revealing a fairly wide range of geophysical anomalies, many of which are likely to be of an archaeological origin.
