Description

Evaluation at this by three trial trenches revealed a Roman building of early-mid first century date and very early for a Roman building in Britain. It is thought that the building had a short life-span and may have been destroyed later in the 1st century AD or early 2nd. The finds from the site were minimal but the small amount did indicate a wealthy villa. Phase 2 of the site was also gave a date range of 1st-2nd centuries and one post hole of this date truncated the foundation wall giving rise to theory of an early building.
