Description

Test pitting was undertaken on rising ground on the eastern valley side of the River Orwell in November 1999 as part of a program of soil investigation in advance of redevelopment. Six test pits were excavated by JCB. All 6 were excavated to a depth of 4.8. Two runs of 3 pits; one above the other, ran approximately with the contour lines. No finds of archaeological interest were found in these test pits.
