Description
Footings excavated for an extension to Charsfield Hall were inspected on the 25th March 2004. These were cut through a layer of heavily disturbed loamy topsoil and yellow sand into the natural subsoil to a depth of c1.5m. The subsoil comprised a very stiff grey-blue boulder clay. The spoil from the trenches, which had been retained on-site, was given a cursory look over but no significant archaeological finds were recovered.
