Description
Monitoring visit, extension on a 16th cent Cottage. Trenches clean cut, 20cm of dark brown organic topsoil directly onto brown weathered boulder clay. Blue clay visible at bottom of footings. No finds.
Green edge location, but no indication of a building on this site earlier than present build. Suspect that other builds more likely to be on the E-W rim of the green edge than here, on the corner. Area to east under grass but no earthworks visible, 1887 OS shows it as agricultural land and 1504 as past allotment.
