Description
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken at 28 The Street, Icklingham during groundwork Only one trench was seen due to staff availability. The north-west facing sections showed 30cm of dry brown sand mixed with some modern debris overlying natural of chalk with an irregular depth (between 0 and 12cm) of dry yellow sand with flint (up to 5cm) inclusions. There was one deeper hole filled with the topsoil which cut the chalk to c.70cm deep within which could be seen very occasional modern brick fragments.
