Description
Monitoring of a Pipe-line to be cut through the field past the church, site of the Manor House.
Visited site after topsoil had been stripped off but before trench-proper was dug. No features visible, but there wewre bricks of a size & shape consistent with an 16th Century Date. Most of them occurred at the point where the land sloped sharply down towards the river and looked as though they may have been a retaining wall.
O.S record card records that their info was bthat the house was taken down 'about 100 yards' source of this was the Rev. H. Beech of Gt Bealings in 1925.
Some undatable tile and stoneware around and about on surface.
