Description
A trench approximately 6m x 3m was excavated by JCB prior to development of new police station. 19th century building rubble was encountered between 0-35cm, clean chalk underlain by gravel between 35-85cm and grey-brown clay silt between 85 and 110cm. Only feature a 19th century pipe trench and it appears that the chalk was artificially laid down on the marsh silt.
