Description
A metal detecting survey and trenched archaeological evaluation was undertaken ahead of residential development on a 6.8ha site. 67 trenches were excavated across the site to an average depth of 0.3m-0.66m.The trenches revealed a defined area of Roman settlement, broadly corresponding to the coin scatter from the metal detecting survey, as well as a zone of medieval activity at the far western end of the site along the frontage of Beeches Road (S1).
