Description
An archaeological trial trench evaluation on a western extension to the quarry. The first part of the quarry extension was investigated with an evaluation of CDD 090 previously. The present site tree felling areas 3 and 4 occupies an area of c.3 hectares and is surrounded to the north, south and west by pine forest. No archaeological features, deposits or finds were observed. Severe truncation probably associated with previous clearances of coniferous plantation could have accounted for this absence. A number of metallic finds of 20th century date were found during a metal detector survey
