An archaeological trial trench evaluation was carried out ahead of proposals to sink new boreholes and associated works at Whitton Water Treatment Works north of Ipswich, Suffolk. Three evaluation trenches were excavated at this site, two trenches measuring 30m by 1.8m and one measuring 15m by 1.8m. The westernmost trench revealed the only feature encountered at the site - a modern wheel rut, probably created by a tractor.
