Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on the construction of an extension to the property. The ground reduction and the excavation of foundation and service trenches were inspected. The site was overlain by topsoil, a firm dark grey brown silt clay with oderate small flints 0.25m thich. Below was subsoil, a compact, light grey brown sand clay with moderate CBM and frequent flints. At the base was the natural, a compact mid yellow brown chalk clay with frequent chalk and pebbles c0.5m below the present day ground surface. A roman pit and finds were identified (S1).
