Archaeological monitoring was carried out prior to the construction of a new building to the rear of the hotel. Two visits were made to inspect various groundworks at the site. The footings trenches measured 0.8m deep and 0.5m wide. The trenches were excavated through 150mm of topsoil, 450mm subsoil and subsequently into the natural subsoil (S1).
