Description

The archaeological works comprised open-area excavations and a watching brief. The site had a broadly rectangular outline with a stepped north-east edge, encompassing an area of approximately 0.10ha. The initial stage of archaeological works was a watching brief of Area B which covered an area of 580m². This area included removing overburden for contamination remediation and the construction of new buildings in the south and centre of the site along with a car parking area in the north-east. The excavation of Area A, measured 15m north to south and 17.50m east to west, covering an area of 262.50m². An additional archaeological watching brief was for the monitoring of the foundation trenches for plots 1-8 in June 2106, covering an area of 357.56m².
