Description

Archaeological monitoring was carried out on ground reduction prior to development. The total reduction was up to a depth of 1.8m deep. On the western and northern sides there was evidence of prior truncation. The eastern side of the site had the most undisturbed stratigraphy with 0.1m of tarmac overlying 0.1m to 0.35m of subsoil, which overlay 0.55m of probable hillwash, overlying further pale orange fine sand. No archaeological features were identified and only late post medieval clay pipe fragments were identified (S1).
