Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on ground works as part of an extension to the property. Two visits were made to the site to observe the excavation of the ground beam trenches for the extension, four piles having been driven into place at an earlier date with minimal ground disturbance. The ground beam trench was excavated to a depth of 1.1m. The base of the trench had a very dark brown to black peaty sand which may possibly be part of a larger town ditch. This layer covered the whole of the site and its depth could not be determined (S1).
