Description
Monitoring of a 0.4m wide x 0.8m deep trench along the porposed cable route. The area withing 50m of the house was not monitoried as it has been heavily disturbed by previous cables. Focus was on the western end of the pipe route and the area surroundng the known deserted medieval village. No archaeological features were obeserved in the western end. A briock drain, trackway, and large feature were recorded in the eastern end. A small number of finds were recovered from the large feature. The wtaching brief has helped clarify the areas of archaeological interest across the Ickworth estate and largely supports information that was already known about the presence of archaeology here.
