Description
Excavation of an area c.0.45ha Ground reduction during the excavation was carried out under archaeological supervision. Exposed surfaces were cleaned and all further excavation was undertaken manually using hadn tools. Two large areas of buried soil which were encountered beneath the subsoil were initially investigated by metal-detecting and via a series of evenly spaced 1x1m hand-dug test pits. Following this the buried soils were excavated by machine to enabl nvestigation of underlying features.
