Description
A trench was excavated to evaluate the site where a single house plot is to be divided into two with a new house being built. The trench was c.9.8m in length and 1.65m wide and was excavated to a depth of 1.3m. The trenching revealed a ditch, perpendicular to Water Lane, which may have marked a property boundary. Two sections across a part of the ditch revealed medieval pottery and animal bone dated to the 13th century. The trench was very disturbed and the overburden was very deep at c.1.2m
