Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out during the demolition at RAF Lakenheath. Demolition of the standing building was completed when the site was visited. Two areas measuring approximately 2m by 4m were cleaned and lowered. Beneath the topsoil the ground was disturbed to a depth of c.0.3m. A large amount of buried concrete was gunned out from the centre of the site. This exposed solid chalk at a depth of c.2m. A small scatter of Late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age flints were identified.
