Description
Three evaluation trenches were excavated at The Old Slaughterhouse, Cuckoo Hill, Bures St Mary. Two of the three trenches were heavily disturbed by modern interventions but the most northerly trench had not been truncated and contained two small pits, one of which contained post medieval material. Trench 3 in the southern part of the site, was entirely made up with a thick layer of wet, humic fill, the origins of which are unclear but finds it contained dated to the 19th and 20th century (S1).
