Description
Monitoring of groundworks and a soakaway for an extension. The only feature was a modern pit and no other archaeological finds or features were recorded. The soakaway revealed a drift geology made up of boulder clay while the extension, which is higher up the west-facing slope on the site, revealed a clay/sand mix. Thefooting trenches did not reveal any depth of overburden indicating that the original construction of the 18/19th century cottage involved a certain amount of terracing into the natural slope.
