Description

Archaeological Trial trench evaluation was undertaken on IBC Sites at St Peter's Wharf to determine the presence and level of survival of the Saxon and medieval waterfronts on the site. Comparison with the results of an excavation that occurred just to the west of the study site, on Bridge Street, showed that there is a high potential for the survival of the Saxon waterfront on the St Peter's Wharf site, as well as medieval and post-medieval land reclamation deposits and associated archaeology.
