Description
Archaeological evaluation for a proposed residential development of 40 dwellings with new vehicular access off Thornham Road. 22 evaluation trenches were excavated being 0.32m-0.62m deep. An overlying topsoil deposit was recorded in all trenches and was generally formed of moderately friable dark brown silty clay averagin between 0.26m-0.52m. Underlying subsoil deposits consisted of mid brown moderately compact silty clay between 0.02-0.15m thick. Underlying geology was generally yellow brown compact clay, with areas of mottled red and grey brown silty clay (S1).
