Description

Trial trench evaluation in advance of the construction of a new primary school. Previous geophysical survey, evaluation and excavation took place in 2014-2016. 12 trenches were excavated to a depth of 0.22m-0.6m. One 1 of the trenches contained an undated ditch, the rest did not reveal any archaeological features. Topsoil was mid yellowish grey, friable, sandy silt with infrequent chalk and gravel 0.22m-0.33m thick. Beclow was subsoil mid light grey brown, firable, silty sand. Below the subsoil was the natural a varying mid-light reddish/yellow grey, friable, sand 0.22m-0.48m (S1).
