Description
Archaeological monitoring for groundwork associated with a residential development on the former landlink Barnes site. The new construction was on pile and beam foundations, these slots were subject to archaeological monitoring. 2 site vists were made to inspect the excavation of pile caps associated with a large tower crane. An area c.5x5m roughly in the center of the site had been excavated to a depth of c1m around the top of some of the already inserted piles. Only a homogenous deposit of dark loamy topsoil with occassional fragments of red brick and tile was encountered. Any archaeological deposits that may be present would be safely buried at greater depths (S1).
