Description

Archaeological Monitoring was carried out on land at Lone Barn Court to the rear of 655 Bramford Road, Ipswich during the construction of six new dwellings. The site lies on generally level ground at c. 8m AOD and is bounded on all sides by extant residential development. Two visits were made to observe the two groups of footings. No meaningful stratigraphy could be recorded as natural subsoil was revealed across the site at the time of the visit, with the full depth of overburden having already been removed. The natural subsoil mainly comprised chalky Boulder Till, with occasional more substantial chalk outcrops (S1).
