Description
Evaluation was carried out ahead of the proposed construction of a dwelling. Two trenches were excavated, the uppermost topsoil was a friable, dark grey brown silty sand with occasional sub-rounded flints (o.19-0.39m thick). At the base of the sequence the natural was a friable, mid yellow brown sandy gravel with frequent small sub rounded flints (0.19m-0.39m below the present day ground surface). Two pits and a ditch were seen, the ditch may be modern as the tip lines of its fill were similar to the cut of the mechanical excavator which may represent a disturbance associated with the construction of the swimming pool (S1).
