Description
Archaeological monitoring of groundworks prior to the development, which had been a garden plot. The trenches inspected covered approx 5% of the total development area and were between 0.8 and 1m wide, and opened to a depth of c.1m by JCB. A dark brown sandy loam containing occasional rounded pebbles and fragments of bone was revealed throught the trenches, to almost the total depth, although a slight change in colour to a more dark brown-orange was observed at the very base of the trenches. One piece of medieval pottery was recovered, other than this no archaeological structures or deposits were identified (S1).
