Site Event/Activity record ESF26062 - Monitoring - 5 Trinity Street, Bungay

Monitoring of an extension to the rear of 5 Trinity Street. Two visits were made on 27th and 30th April to observe two of the three footings. The sections of the footings were observed at a small distance due to the unstable nature of the trenches. Footing 1 was 1.5-1.8m deep, under c300mm of topsoil and modern concrete surfaces was a dark grey brown soft sand with bricks and rubble throughout of c.1m thickness, probably related to the building of the adjacent chapel or prev building works. The basal 300mm of the trench consisted of natural mid orange brown soft sand. Fooring 2 was 1.4m deep with a layer of dark grey brwon soft sand with bricks and rubble c1m thickness and c300mm of natural sand at the base. A post-medieval pit was seen at c0.55cm. Foot 3 was unobserved because a building had existed previously. No archaeological finds were observed in the spoil (S1).
