Description
archaeological monitoring and recording in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning approval for the construction of two new dwellings. The site fronts the western side of Orchard Road and lies to the south of 58- 60 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, on the north eastern edge of the historic centre of the town. The monitoring revealed the footings (M1004) of the former buildings on the site. The stratigraphy comprised made ground and levelling deposits underneath a bituminous surface. The ground was much disturbed and in addition to the wall footings concrete piles were present.
