Description

Trial trench evaluation prior to constructionof a new scout HQ on the site at Red House Farm. Seven trial trenches were excavated covering the footprint and surround area of the scout HQ and access road. The deposit model was consistent across the site. At the top was topsoil, a dark grey brown, firm clayey silt with moderate sub-angular flint inclusions present to a max depth of 0.35m. Beneath the topsoil was subsoil, a mid orange brown, compact clayey silt with frequent sub-angular flint inclusions present to a max depth of 0.42m. At the base of the stratigraphic sequence across the trench was natural geology which was a mid yellow orange, compact sandy clay with frequent sub-angular and rounded flint and stone inclusions (S1).
