Description
A series of monitoring visits were made during the clearing out and stabilising of the cellars and during the excavation of trenches for footings and for the underpinning of the surrounding walls. A photographic record was made of the walls. An examination was made of two areas of vaulting which survive in the cellar at the two properties. The yard and new building area were stripped to formation level prior to the excavation of footing trenches and drains were inserted at the north end of the site. This involved the removal of an accumulated soil and a wall foundation which ran E to W across the area. During the course of the building work, this area was heavily disturbed by footing trenches, and to a slightly lesser extent by the reduction in ground levels (S1).
