Description

Evaluation consisting of 9 trial trenches exposed the mid-late 19th century foundations associated with railway buildings. No feature or finds were found in the remaining trenches, modern deposits and disturbed grounf being encountered down to th level of the underlying sand and gravel geological deposits. Evidence was found for the terracing of the northern and southern slopes of the hill during the period of railway construction, while the hilltop has also been sunject to disturbance/removal of any soil horizons predating the mid-19th century.
