Description
Geophysical survey was carried out forming part of a wider archaeological assessment by SCCAS on behalf of St. Edmundsbury Borough Council. Three techniques were used: Magnetic (Gradiometer); Resistance (0.5m and 1.0m Twin Probe; Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Modern factors produced widespread ferrous disturbance in the magnetic data, effectively masking any weaker responses. The GPR survey was unsuccessful over the tennis courts. The high water table effectively restricted depth penetration to around 1.5m (S1).
