Description
2019: An archaeological evaluation (eight trial-trenches) was carried out at Red House Farm, Sudbury Road, Newton, Suffolk in advance of the construction of six new dwellings and associated infrastructure. Eight trial-trenches were laid out across the development site. The trenches were all
30m long by 1.8m wide except T2, which was 10m long and 1.8m wide. The trenches were excavated through modern topsoil c 0.18-0.44m thick, and subsoil c 0.07-0.25m thick, onto natural orange/brown clayey-silt with gravel, encountered at a depth of 0.42-0.73m below current ground level. (S1)
