Description
Evaluation trenching for a residential development to the south of the historic village core and on the eastern side of the World War II RAF Sudbury airfield did not reveal
any archaeological features or finds of any age but did record interesting evidence from the WW II phase of use of the western part of the site with one feature containing cannon shell cases though investigation ceased when potentially live shells were identified. 15 trenches in total were excavated, mostly 30m x 1.8m and a few 20m x 1.8m, to a depth of 0.25-0.7m.
