Description

Evaluation trenching for a single dwelling development in an area on the sand and gravel terrace of the River Gipping and close to recorded barrow sites did not reveal any archaeological features. The only finds were small fragments of late post-medieval brick and tile. The single trench measured 10.00m x 1.80m and was excavated to a maximum depth of 0.70m on to natural sand geology (S1).
