Description
2020: An archaeological evaluation by means of trenching was undertaken in advance of the construction of nine dwellings. Five trenches were were laid out across the site measuring 30.00m x 1.80m providing a 5% sample of the site. The trenches cut through modern topsoil at a depth of 0.21m-0.40m which overlay subsoil with a thickness of 0.10m-0.33m. Natural sands and gravels were encountered at a depth of 0.48m-0.59m below ground level. Evidence of Roman, medieval, and post medieval activity was revealed. (S1)
