Description
2020: An archaeological evaluation by means of trenching was undertaken in advance of the construction of an agricultural reservoir. A total of 14 trenches were excavated measuring 30.00m x 1.80m to a depth of 0.26m-0.45m onto silty clay natural geology. No archaeological features were found and only metal finds of late post medieval to modern dates were found. Agricultural disturbance associated with a recent potato harvest was evident, truncating the natural substrate in all of the trenches with wheel ruts and cultivation rows present alongside older plough scars and land drains.
