Description

2020: An archaeological evaluation by means of trenching was undertaken at Land East of Withersdale Road, Mendham. Eight trenches were excavated; one measuring 20.00m x 1.80m, two measuring 15.00 x 1.80m, and the remaining measuring 10.00m x 1.80m. Trenches revealed a depth of 0.30-0.40m of topsoil above 0.30-0.75m of subsoil giving a trench depth of 0.60-1.10m onto natural sand and flitn geology. (S1)
