Description

The Capel Hall Lane to Everetts Corner mains renewal scheme entailed some 2700m of pipe laying operations in Trimley St Martin and Kirton parishes. Over the greater part of the pipeline scheme a 6m wide working area was stripped of topsoil using a ditching bucket. Subsoil deposits were left in situ as only 250/300mm of topsoil was removed leading to the masking of archaeological features over much of the pipeline. The Archaeological monitoring concentrated on collecting finds scatters and examining the sides of the narrow pipe-trench. A total of 10 monitoring visits were made between March and May 1996.
