Site Event/Activity record ESF29570 - Monitoring - 57 Throughfare, Woodbridge

The foundation trenches for the planned dwelling were monitored as they were excavated The foundation trenches varied in width between 500mm on the southern and western sides and 700mm on the eastern side. Below a mixed upper surface of shingle with some tarmac which represented previous use of the site for car parking the trenches revealed 500mm to 600mm of mid brown silty sand subsoil. This subsoil was in general clean though it did contain a few small peg tile fragments of Post medieval date and one small stoneware sherd (wt. 4g) and one small brown glazed redware sherd (wt. 6g) with this pottery being of 19th century date. No archaeological features were revealed in any of the trenches.
