Description
Monitoring was carried out during soil stripping for a haul road associated with proposed works on the Felixstowe Branch Line in Trimley St Martin. Only the cultivated topsoil was removed from the stripped corridor, revealing the top of a windblown loess deposit known to be widespread on the Felixstowe peninsula. No archaeological features were revealed during the soil strip, which is consistent with previous work in the vicinity of this site, where features were either sealed below the loess layer, or not visible cutting it.
