Full Description
Southgate of Bury St Edmunds, site of.
`South Gate was situated at the southern end of Southgate at the crossroads and was demolished in 1762' (S1).
Shown on Thomas Warren's map of Bury, 1747 (S2).
Location amended on HER map April 1996 after (S2). Oblique illustration by Downing in 1740 (S3).
