Full Description
1972: Measured plan and letter to Miss E Owles from J Scott-Elliot, 43 Sheldon Ave, London N6. (2nd site adjoins 1st).
"I did find another two of those odd little trenches similar to the ploughed ? one I found at Snape. I'm no nearer knowing what they are. These two were 6 ft apart, one filled with lighter sand in a golden sand area and the other contained earthy sand in a similar golden sand area. They were 9- 12 ft wide, started just below the grass roots & went down in one case to 12" and the other to 8". Enclosed is a drawing. Finds: a number of flints - not very interesting I suspect ... will try again" (S1).
Letters from Owles replying. Two photographs. 1st season (1971) plan shows ? post holes TL 4608 5925. Further correspondence (S1).
