Full Description

Thetford-type ware rim recovered from the 1975 excavations (S1). Amongst the material from the 1947-1957 excavations are the rim of a late Roman C redware bowl, ? from Phocaea in W Turkey, AD C4-C7 and a body sherd from an Almagro 54 amphora from Gaza in Palestine, AD C4-C6. The Burgh provenance of these sherds is in some doubt but cannot be entirely rejected (S1). Also one unstratified sherd grid stamped Ipswich ware from 1947-1957 excavations (S1)(S2).
