Full Description
Small moated island shown on OS 1:10560 map (S1).
Circa 1937: Basil Brown excavated small moated area with footbridge. ?Same site. He revealed a floor of greenish clay, 3 feet thick and thought this might be the site of a dovecote, which are sometimes moated - note OS record `site of another dovecote' as TM 0841 6886 (S2). No finds were made (S3).
1976: The moated island shown on the OS 25 inch at TM 0833 6878 has been destroyed and its site is now occupied by modern piggeries (S2).
