Full Description

Mound, roughly circular with ?C19 brick & flint gazebo on top, in garden on W side of Bargate House. E & S of large chalk pit (early ?C19 - pre-dates 1851 Tithe Map) with semi- circular `ditch', circa 50m diameter shown on NW side of OS 1:10560 map (S1). Not shown on poor quality Tithe Map. Definitely artificial mound but date unknown, possibly garden feature of Bargate House. No evidence for ice house or lime kiln.
Identified in 1923 by Claude Morley as site of `Clovesho' when surrounding gully labelled as `moat' (S2).
